at Orchard Hill

Our summer program combines professional riding instruction and horse education with lots of fun activities.

We offer the best instructors, ponies, counselors and facilities so that you will learn, make friends and have a great time!

Summer 2010 Schedule

Beginners and Novice Riders
Weeks Starting July 5 - Aug 9

Advanced Riders
Weeks Starting Aug 16 & 13

* To enroll in the Advanced Program, riders must be able to tack up independently, walk, trot, canter and jump small fences. They must know their posting diagonals and canter leads. We will work on strengthening their jumping skills, flat work, equitation and horse care skills. The hours will be 8am-12pm Mon-Fri for two weeks. *

What We Do

Orchard Hill is excited to offer an extended riding program for our current students during the summer.

Girls and boys from age 7 to 13 are teamed with one of our terrific horses or ponies for the week. Students care for their mount and tack. Daily riding lessons are tailored to each student's riding ability, and move from walk/trot to cantering and jumping.

Students learn and practice horse grooming and tack care, then show their ponies in an "in hand" class during the week to demonstrate their new skills. Parents may attend a riding demonstation on Fridays.

Between mounted rides, kids learn horse anatomy, practice valuting, design equine arts & crafts, and jump our horse-less cross country course.
